Now you can share your WhatsApp status on web too, here’s how

NEW DELHI: Facebook-owned WhatsApp introduced its new Status feature in February this year for Android and iOS users. The company has now rolled out the feature for the desktop version of the app. The company was working on the feature for last three months and has now finally released it for WhatsApp Web.
The new Status feature is part of WhatsApp Web update version 0.2.5854. Users on WhatsApp Web will now see a circular icon placed next to their profile picture on the chat window. In order to view the status of their contacts the users just have to click on the icon. After this, they will be redirected to a new screen with black background which will the Statuses of their contacts placed on the left side of the screen. The users can view the Status by clicking on the circular images. Same as the mobile version, the users will also be able to reply to the Status.
The “Status” feature lets users share photos, GIFs or videos overlaid with drawings, emojis and a caption that will be visible to selected friends for 24 hours, before disappearing.

Recently, a new leak surfaced online suggesting that WhatsApp is working to introduce payment option in the app. As per WaBetaInfo (@wabetainfo), a Twitter account that tracks changes in WhatsApp’s beta builds, the latest beta version 2.17.295 of WhatsApp, will include a new feature called ‘WhatsApp Payments.’

The blog has even shared a screenshot of this feature that reads, “Immediate bank to bank transfer with UPI”. Further, it asks users to tap “‘Agree’ to accept the WhatApp Payments Terms and Privacy Policy and Bank’s Terms and Privacy Policy.”

WhatsApp has already received permission from the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to enter into partnership with multiple banks to allow users to make in-app payments and money transfers using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).
